Ghostbusters 3 : A proposal.

Ghostbusters 3 (Written in 2005)

So Dan Ackroid produced a script in 1999. It's in limbo because the studio believes it to be expensive to produce. They know the actors will want MORE money and it will have to have a competitive budget. There minds may have been at ease if the script was good, But it would seem that The Ghostbuster where meeting hades the god of the underworld and New York was becoming manhellton!! due to an over flow in...hell. hmmm..that's a bit heavy. On top of that the orig. ghost busters where side notes and a new younger bunch would have taken over......Now that won't do! SO hears where i think it should go.

Don't ditch the original Four!! There's no need to go to younger NEW Ghostbusters....YET!. If Sylvester Stallone can do RAMBO IV with a possible return as rocky and william shatner can turn 50 for star trek 2 deal with it then continue for 5 more movies through out the rest of the 80's and early 90's and still be a space hero AND then still consider reprising his role if enterprise went another season THEN there's no reason the original ghost busters can't continue to be our on screen heroes!

Treat New York Better. Ghostbusters 2 got a little hokey (well maybe more then a little) New yorkers forgot about them having saved the city 5 years earlier, the citizens are accused of treating each other so badly that a ectoplasmic mood slime infests the underground and causes paranormal experiences. Show the decent side of the city, Like since the end of GB 2 things got better. There are a lot of good things to dwell on.

This time out New Yorkers DO remember what the Ghostbusters have done for them and are local heroes. On there wall should be the magazine covers they made from the first film. They've gained acceptance and have neighbourhood BBQs, where they tell stories. They get waved at from passers by....people are now nice to the Ghostbusters.

Peter Vankman and Dana should still be together, use Oscar.....don't forget about him!
He should be involved with the Ghostbusters in some compasity but not be directly in the main crew (yet) He should help them indirectly.

Rick Morranis character Lewis should should have been training as a Ghostbuster as well as being there accountant and would have been in reserve since '89. He still doesn't see as much action as he's like. They have good joking stories about times he's come along!
He has saved there lives legitimately One time, But they won't admit it.

Another scene in the first act.

EXT. STREET ---DAY

VENKMAN

Walking down the street towards the head quarters in full GB gear with a visitor accompanying him for the first time.

In background we see...

MAN runs by a WOMAN and snatches her purse. WOMAN shrieks

VANKMAN

quickly turns, calmly pulls out his proton gun and in one smooth motion zaps the perpetrator.

MAN goes down, the WOMAN Runs up and grabs her purse back then turns to Vankman smiles ans waves thanks.

VANKMAN
smiles in his accomplishment waves and turns to continue his walk

VISITOR
Impressed but confused, turns a couple times to look at the not moving man and at Vankman.

VISITOR

He's ah....He's not moving.....you..didn't.....ummmmm.....

VANKMAN

OH, no,no. He'll be fine.

( smiles )

This things set to stun.

With all the super hero movies that have come and gone (and are coming) The best ones critically and commercially are the ones that have treated the world these characters inhabit as a real world. Very close to our own, with maybe minor changes to suit the plot.

Mutant legislation, spider-man on the cover of the paper ect. This is the world the Ghostbusters need to inhabit.

Our world where they've been heroes for some time. Where goofy plots and bad character development won't cut it. Tell a GOOD story set in the real world and the actors will want to sign on. The studio will like it, especially if it's not dependent on special effects in the end if it's a strong story and contender for box office dollars the effects budget will be there.


The Ghostbusters CAR. It is an imported part of the back ground of this movie and will help tell a compelling story so don't forget to treat it like a character not a prop. It got massively upgraded for movie Two and these upgrades along with the car should now be aging.

The car need to be in a situation at the beginning of the movie where it has seen better days. Ray loves that car and doesn't want to replace it. It's engine is in fine shape it just needs a over haul.

We need to do some thing about that car.

STANTZ

( turns to look )

Oh, I don't know I kind of like it that way it is. It has....personality.

VENKMAN

( turns to look at the car then at ray )

RAY! I thought we discussed trading it in last month.

STANTZ

Peter! It's the GHOSTBUSTER car! You can't get rid of a classic, it's like.....one of the family.....I love that car!!

VANKMAN

Turns in defeat on this issue to notice the t.v. behind the reception desk. It is showing a episode of Pimp my ride.

The other two turn to look as he is smiling staring off.

VANKMAN

Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?

STANTZ

Peter you can't!

EGON

raises a scientific device to the t.v and then to ray in interest.

VANKMAN

still smiling strolls over to the desk with a computer and phone. He sits triumphantly tapping a few buttons on the key board. finds what he's looking for He picks up the phone, dials.

VANKMAN

( on phone )

Hi MTV, this is Peter Vankman.

Yep, the Ghostbusters. We've saved the city a few times and I was wondering if you'd Pimp our ride?

Cut to West coast custom garage, film crew around.

The shop crew are standing around the converted Eccto 1

Xzibit is standing in front

Are you ready to see what we've done to your ride?

Vankman is all smiles

Egon is very intently interested

Stantz is sweating and shaking his head in response.

Xzibit pulls the cover off, WE see the old car (Really, no faking this!!!) all pimped out, but in a more functional manner then a comfort one or simply astatically pleasing with a lot of woofers and screens!!

Peter is astounded

Egon is very pleased with the new Functioning equipment and gizmos

Ray is happy that his old car is still under there!


Janine should still be there as a secretary as well AS a honorary investigator who dosn't wear the GB gear like the honorary Ghostbuster Lewis. She should discover the main plot device with Lewis at her side while sent out on a low priority mission. some where isolated.

Note on the containment system and slimer.

What to do with slimer? He was made a big deal in the cartoon and featured in GB 2. Although he could be left out I don't fell that's the way to go. Perhaps the ghostbusters want to play a prank and wonder if there would be any favorable specters in the containment unit that could help them.....

NO of course not! It seems cruel to indefinitely hold a sentient entity in a containment unit (rebuilt with money form the city of course) It should be explained that after a time there energy dissipates and they are no longer bound to the earth plane.

VANKMAN

After there energy dissipates they go off to a better place......hopefully!......We think.

SO they could find slimer and offer him candy bars with simple hand gestures suggesting he get in to a container....he falls for it and they use him in a prank. He does NOT talk...continues making wired uncomfortable noises. and they treat him well.

PECK

He can still be a detractor of the Ghostbusters

They stole the statue of Liberty! Unleashed a bunch of ghosts on the city

( breaths for a sec , realizing his last contemplate is weak he over emphasizes )

USE UNLICENSED equipment!

He can be in this movie as long as he has something to do, he must have a pourpose.


AGE! this must be addressed as I mention earlier this can be over come on screen easily, they have to deal with it a bit and move on. There still able for action and there minds are as sharp as they ever where... Having a scene with a older man where they take off in to action or he helps as well will make them look great!!

These are still the same people we met in the '84 movie, they are our heroes, they are the GHOSTBUTERS.

STAR TREK 2009

Excitement for a full year, sneaking in Internet trailers even though I'm fully aware the less I know going in the better. Even reading a few early reviews. I found out too much, Even DIGG.com helpfully let me know in the comments that Vulcan gets the gun. Now after seeing this hotly anticipated movie which is the first new big screen Trek in Eight years and having digested it for a couple of days I feel that some things aren't sitting with me quite right. Is It nit picking , possibly but more then that movies want and need repeat business and for that to be archived the movie should coalesce in to one big ball of sense.

If I had to sum up my experience in one parse it would be; STAR TREK, One big plot hole covered in a hard candy shell.

It looks Great , it's exciting we get the warm glow of seeing old familiar characters again but it ultimately doesn't sustain over a long period of time.

The Beginning is well done and it was smart to start the story with out a explanation of what it is coming through the anomaly (a black hole we find out later). It was nice to see that a Star ship after all is not so easily destroyed even against a much stronger foe. Too many times have other ships then the enterprise been destroyed with one or two shots, this was good. The Kalvin takes a beating and the captain quite quickly realizes he can not win "there's no help out hear for us" he proclaims while walking down a corridor to meet his doom with Kirk senior at his side. Well he was right of course and when Nero the renegade (aren't they always) Romulan kills him with a sweet ass pike thingy we get the quick cut away to keep the rating down. luckily they employed a clever bio monitoring device and this tactic worked well. We know he's dead, imaginations run wild as to how impaled he had became. Nero finds out just what year he's in since he really had no idea what happened to him going through the black hole, Kirk senior
helms the Kelvin Right in to Neros advanced ship as his wife gives birth to James Tiberius Kirk in a escape shuttle. Not before they have the discussion on what to name him of course. The Kelvin explodes in to it's target and the plot moves on.

This was a strong opening. The problem with this opening and with most of the movies plot is that they wanted to show the origins of Kirk , how he met spock, how he became captin of the enterprise and the answer is we will never know. Every thing that happens from this point on , even the shuttle craft birth and especially the death of Kirk seniour did not happen in the original time line. Old Spock is quite clear that in the proper history Kirk did get to know his father and that is why he joined star fleet. This is a new time line and anything is possible going forward.

Major logic holes:

Old Spock was dropped off on to a barren ice planet to watch his home die. Sadly he is just a walk away form a base where Montgomery Scott is situated and old Spock has the equation to Trans beaming. Which is used to get back on the Enterprise while in warp but also Scotty says that with his theory he can beam people even to adjacent planets in the same system. Vulcan would seem to qualify so he could have beamed Spock to his home with enough time to warn them had he sought out the base.

When the Drill is attacking earth Young Spock attacks it and severs the drill head. Where where all the Vulcan planetary defences and ships when they where being attacked? Could they not have severed it as well?

At the end of the Film Spock Prime reflects to him self , "trusters full head" almost happily as a memory. The problem is this is not the proper past there future is not his past he knows this.

When Nero confronts Kirk saying he will kill him like he killed his father, on paper this is a nice line. In the logic of the film he would have had no idea he killed his father as he only spoke with the captain of the Kelvin on screen and in person. Even if he had some historical federation data to find out his father was a crew member he would still not know if he was still on the ship on had escaped in a shuttle craft.



There's been so much time travailing in Star trek that Spock prime would not be content to leave the time line as it is and help resettle a new planet. Not only did billions of Vulcans die but all the future Vulcans he knows will not exist and that includes Savik. Since the time line was messed with by Nero he should have been compelled to set it right. Destroying the whole planet seemed a quite heavy. All historical culture lost, people present and future gone. I think it would have been as effective if they had just destroyed a major city.

Spock would do the travel around the sun trick and prepare vulcan for the oncoming doom.

Sonic Boom. A new direction for sonic the hedge hog


SONIC BOOM

A proposal for a new direction for sonic the Hedge Hog in story and game play.



Reason

the reason for this game is that the sonic series has been left to stagnate with little progression. sonic was meant to be a more "hip" and baddass character then his rivals and has since been toned down to kiddie fodder with little game play advancements. This will not be for 6 year olds, it's a strong teen rating 13 year old and up to his now grown up fans. The game comes back to sonic being cool by being different and not playing it safe. Future games will have to find new creative ways to continue the game play it does not stick to the same old formula that once worked. In this it will sell many games and renew what was meant to be a different kind of mascot character, one that all people who love good games will enjoy with out compromise.



Keys to success



  • Full 2d levels as well as full 3d levels
  • The Death of Dr. robotnik
  • A emotionally attentive story
  • As Real time passes, major content unlocked
  • Deals heavily with 3 characters Sonic, Amy and tails who is mostly only talked about.
  • New levels created by engine for extended game play after first run though

Game play

We start off with a beautiful cgi rendered 3d environment as sonic is off to save tails. All the story scenes are done in this manner with camera work devoted to character emotion. The exception is in flash backs to older memories some of them will be cgi but some will be taken right out of older genesis games, original graphics included with voice overs. After a power 3d playable beginning of about 20 min sonic proclaims "let's get down to business" and the game changes to beautiful cgi rendered 2d for half his missions and retains 3d for the other half.

Forever levels

The game engine will create level remixes. Hiding familiar features with new textures, colors and a catalog of hold out graphics. As much as possible it will change the layout of levels, lengthening or shortening them as a section and/or as a whole. This will only happen after all designed levels are played threw and the game is thought to be beat. The option to replay the originally designed levels will all ways be present.


Time play feature


The goal is to have the first new major cut scene revealed when the player thought the game's story was over and after 1 further month of play time. The player should still have felt a satisfying amount of cut scenes and story have been shown in the once through game. The new ones are the unexpected extension to the main story.


Where as new randomized levels will be available continuously new Team designed levels and cut scenes will be come available after 3 prerequisites are obtained.


#1. Time played must be a minimum number of hours
#2 Sufficient real time must have passed.
#3 Progress in game

As progressing though the game some times mostly earlier on, levels will have to be completed to unlock a cut scene. Later it will be by a hidden percentage only and a cut scene could come in the middle of a level ( as long as the first 2 prerequisites are met) with a natural tie in to initiate it. Such as thoughts coming to the character and supporting cast finding you independent of ware you are in location.

Surpassing prerequisites #1 by xx amount will speed up the time to unlock but still not be obtainable by hours played alone.

The game save will record play time and days passed accumulatively. Changing the system date will not work.

New T.V. advertising can be displayed after the 1 month mark

"Sonic Boom. keep playing .....there's more."

Just as this content has begun to become unlocked.

Players who have far exceeded the min play time will get it 1 week in advance.

There will be many more minor cut scenes along the way based on the above 3 prerequisites. Although minor to ending the story there will have a dramatic impact and concentrate on character's emotional state.

After 4 months of real time has passed and enough progress though the game the true ending becomes available. It will consist of final levels a final boss and a final major cut scene.

The point is not to make the player wait but to surprise with more content as there game gets older.



Story Out line


Opening

Game opens with sonic running though green hill zone 1, original genesis graphics with voice over nothing important to say yet. (may have pixels around the mouth move) Continues with sonic 2. sonic and tails running along together they have a light playful conversation. continues on to game gear sonic 2 with tails being taken by Dr robotnik as sonic runs after him we get up close and pixely. music of dread. Cut to modern cgi. We see a close up of sonics eyes as they open camera pulls back as his head lifts. He screams "Tails!!". As we stick with this image his face returns to normal as he realizes he can not give chase he gets out of bed and walks mournfully to the window. He looks out into the new day as the camera swings form his back to his front concentrating on his eyes staring off. As a tear falls out we zoom in and track it's fall while the back ground slows to a craw we see in the falling tear a reflection of a moving scene...a memory. Tails being taken by Dr. robotnik, his tormented fox face expresses that somethings different this time then any other in which he was in danger. We zoom back from the tear a bit as the image of Tails still resides we hear his scream for sonic. The tear hits the window ledge and shatters. We pull the camera out again for a full view. Sonic speaks. "Tails" is all he says.



Main

This is only a out line to the over all story, Sonic will still have his whimsical moments.

It's clear Sonic has to rescue tails. He starts his missions as we slowly learn why Dr. robotnik has taken tails. Threw talking to Amy the story is recounted. Robotnik doesn't take Tails as bait. there is no trap he wishes him to follow. He intends to separate them forever. Hoping to demoralize sonic while keeping Tails alive so he can not move on. He thinks his power is in his friends and his best friend is Tails. He promises not to stop there, Amy is next. Sonic Must stop him and save tails while protecting Amy.

We see cut scenes of Sonic and Amy talking about fond memories of tails. Dr. Robotniks plan is effective sonic is demoralized from the loss of tails as there are no clues this time, no way to find robotnik. He has no other plan of domination. Amy keeps Robotniks plan form working completely and is a emotional aid to sonic as well as a hinderence as she will be the next target.

After 1/4 of game play we see Robotniks lair with tails being held in a chamber. After some banter tails keeps hope that sonic will rescue him. He does not see what Dr. robotnik is doing. The camera pulls around to see a close up of his optimistic face. We see in his eyes a reflection of a blue blur, his last words "sonic". We pull back more and Immediately a stream of ice particles hits him full force, leaving him frozen with a bewildered expression. Just before he falls in to a deep sleep he has time to figure out somethings wrong and sonic isn't coming.

sonic is unaware of this and continues his mission in search of robotnik while always coming home to Amy at the end of his day.

At the perceived end of the game Sonic faces off with Dr. Robotnik in an epic battle. Sonic is made aware that tails is behind The Dr. in a closed Metal container but is not informed of his freezing. Sonic wears down Robotnik and appears to have him beat but as usual he gets away. This time with tails, he flies off in to the distance.

Sonic swears that where ever he goes he will find him. the game ends for the player.

As stated, new levels will be available with new cut scenes.

We start to see sonic age as real days pass.

After 1 month of game play and after a first run though

Sonic ages 15 years he gains new abilities and becomes stronger yet still mourns the long lost Tails.

He faces off against Robotnik again and seemingly wins. Then Robotnik proclaims "you will never find tails sonic.....ever" "I will never stop" He does his usual runaway tactic as we see sonic look up at him with new resolve in his face, he gives chase. He makes a great effort but comes up 100 yards short of catching Robotnik. He is only keeping pace. We pull in front of Dr. Robotnicks flying contraption and see him unconcerned, playing with controls and watching his path. We Turn our camera behind him to sonic and see his resolve about to weaken when we hear voice overs. Memories of sonic and tails, ending with tails calling for help. With the greatest resolve we have ever seen in his face he speeds up and closes the gap. Robotnik notices a warning sound and light on his dash he does not look back as sonic leaps from the ground to the back of his flying machine he gains a hold of it's body as robotnik exclaims in bewilderment "sonic". He turns his head as sonic dashes forward with robotniks body in tow. The two rivals ascend in to the air under sonics force as they hit there apex of hight sonic yells "EGG MAN!!!!" and turns him over so he is positioned on top with one knee in his gut. they descend quickly as his words still resonate. With the camera behind sonic pointing down we come to there side view and see the back ground rushing past. Sonic looking at Egg man and a look of fright on his face. the ground comes mercifully quick and robotniks body impacts with full force as sonic is stead fast in place on top of him. Egg man lays motionless with a bit of blood coming form the corner of his mouth his final words. "My plans......" He dies.

Sonic gets off and stands erect. a look of sorrow and pity comes over his face for his rival, for tails and for him self and what he was forced in to. sonic quietly says

"tails, I'm sorry"

As he stares at the lifeless body off Egg man. fade to black.

This scene is the true end of Dr. Robotnik 15 years after the game started.


It is not graphically violent the only blood is the trickle from robotics mouth and even Disney villains die (though mostly off screen). Well with in a T rating.
There are very intense scenes emotionally in this game this is the only one where there is real violence. He had to end his menace , it is not vengeance.

The game ends again.


It continues on with different goals as now Sonic thinks tails lost forever with the end of Dr. robotnik. We find new cut scenes though the next 3 months with sonic and Amy conversing dealing with the Loss of Tails thought gone for good and Sonics destruction of Egg man. There is 1 death in this game and sonic has trouble coming to terms with it. He is not happy things had to end that way, this is as dark as the game gets but it is fleshed out in full. showing that taking a life even by necessity truly weighs heavy on the hero in the long run.


After the 3 month Point of real time Sonic finds out tails could still be alive he is ecstatic. During this time we have seen sonic age much more and though still doing good for others he still losses hope about tails some times. Even with Dr. Robotnik gone, has he won?

We find 28 years has past which was made know to the player though out the 3 months of game play. Sonic is much older now and on the downward slope of his prime. He is how ever still Sonic. With age has come new abilities.

His new "finding tails again" centered missions take 2 years of sonics life and only as long in real time as the player takes to complete them.

finally He reaches Egg mans hiding spot. Sonic is greeted by a holographic recording of Dr. Robotnik being his evil self. Sonic is saddened by his image remembering there final battle. The recording loops and sonic destroys the source from where it was projected. An old resolve comes over him like that day of the final battle. His sadness wiped away he ventures in. The building it self is all Egg mans contraption, he fights his way though corridors to An open room at the end with a boss battle. A Mechanical robots left behind by the Dr. After defeating it he continues on to find 2 more rooms with 2 more bosses. After the last and most fearsome sonic sees The long lost metal container hooked in to the building. He approaches a console, activating it. The container opens and sonic sees tails for the first time in 30 years still the same age....frozen.

This realization falls over him and in wonderment he comes closer to examine him and his prison of ice. He places his hand on the cold block to touch his past. Going back to the control panel behind him, he studies the layout and starts a slow procedure.

Sonic used to being fast has to literally sit around and wait for the defreezing process to pass. We see time pass slowly with video fade ins and outs on sonic lounging remembering tails and the early video games they where in in there original graphics. and then pieces of his 30 year journey.

A automated computer snaps him out of it as he is informed the process is 1 min to completing he slowly gets up we now see his older face once more. he proceeds over to the chamber while a life like color returns to a still sleeping tails.

The countdown continues until ..... "process complete" is sounded off . With great anticipation in sonics face tails opens his eyes, then smiles.

"sonic I knew you'd come for me!"

Sonic half smiles back as he feels it is not a complete victory. He helps him out.

Tails adjusts to his new surroundings, little time for him has passed. He begins to notice sonics aging.

"sonic. How long have I been gone?"

tails face gets angry

"I'll get that Egg man"

Sonic looks sadder then he tough he would at the reuniting of a long lost friend. He continues wondering if all those happy memories he just relived could ever be his again.

He looks up form the floor where his face immediately went as tails pronounced his revenge.

"Egg man is dead."


"15 years now."


Tail's amazement can't keep his exclamations in

"15 years?!?! "

sonic continues

"tails."

he trails off for a moment like he never thought he'd say those words to his face again

"tails....it's been 30 years since you....where captured"

tails sits in silence.

Sonic tells his story as we hear sentimental music but no words time passes and Tails is filled in for most of the last 3 decades. Sonic takes tails hand to help him up

"Come on let's get out of hear....I'll race you"

They run off together and we pull ahead and watch them run from the doom of Egg mans cavern though beautiful tereain with smiles on both there faces......Sonic boom.
